House Church Clarksville
What a gathering is like
Sundays at 11 a.m., in the park and in the home. We open the Scriptures, we pray, we eat together, and every believer is included. So are the children.
How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
In the park and in the home
Sometimes the gathering is a public meeting at RichEllen Park. Sometimes it is in a home, by invitation, so the circle can stay safe and personal. We meet Sundays at 11 a.m. either place. People arrive and talk. You will not sit in rows and watch one person do all the ministry. Someone reads. Others may share a psalm, a word, or a question. That back-and-forth is how we teach.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
We pray
Prayer is not the closing item. When a need is named — sickness, pressure, courage to obey — we pray then, often with a hand on a shoulder, sometimes in the Spirit, always in the name of Jesus. Children pray too. We stand in faith together. He hears, and He answers.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
The Lord’s Supper is a meal
We share the Lord’s Supper as a real supper. The New Testament word is deipnon — an ordinary meal, not a crumb and a sip. We give thanks for the bread and the cup and remember that His body was given and His blood was shed. More on the Lord’s Supper.
The children stay in the room
We do not send the children out so the adults can have the real meeting. They hear the Scriptures. They eat with us. They pray. When a child has a song, a verse, or a simple prayer, we make room. The children are included with everyone else.
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
From listening to sharing
1. You are welcome here
A good first step is a short video call, so you meet one person before the group. You can also come straight to a public meeting at RichEllen Park, and bring the children. Listen, eat if we are eating, and ask anything you like. No one will put you on the spot.
2. Be known
Tell us your name and your town — Clarksville, Palmyra, Erin, Dover, Cumberland City, or farther. Share what is on your heart, and let us pray with you.
3. Bring something
A psalm, a short reading, a testimony, a prayer, a word of encouragement. A child may bring a song or a verse. That is the difference between attending and assembling.
4. Walk with one person
Disciple making starts smaller than a class. Read with someone. Pray with them. Help them do what Jesus said this week.
5. Multiply
When we grow past the point where everyone can share in the teaching, we do not just get bigger. We start another gathering so each voice can still be heard.
These are not steps you must finish before you belong. They describe a family where people grow up. Come as you are. We would love for you to grow from listening into sharing.
